The Rohingya people<\/strong>, historically also termed Arakanese Indians<\/strong>, are a stateless Indo-Aryan people from the Rakhine region of Myanmar<\/strong>. There were an estimated over 1 million Rohingya living in Myanmar before the 2012\u201313 crisis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Rohingyas are 1.2 million<\/strong> against a population of 51.4 million (2014 census)<\/strong> in Myanmar. The major religion is Buddhism<\/strong> followed by Christianity. In 1.2 million Rohingyas, Hindu Rohingyas are around 0.1 million<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

Links with Terrorist Organizations<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rohingyas\u2019 relationship with terrorist organizations goes back more than five decades. It has links with Al Qaeda<\/strong> and other networks in Afghanistan<\/strong>, as well as seminaries in Pakistan<\/strong> to feed its armed wing, the Rohingya National Army (RNA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After the 9\/11 attacks<\/strong>, U.S. troops found multiple videos of Al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan<\/strong>. Myanmar Jihadists<\/strong> were training with other militant organizations \u2014 this is well proven. Harakah al-Yakin (aka Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army)<\/strong> has strong links with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan<\/strong>, which go back to 1982<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In October 2016<\/strong>, a group of men attacked an outpost of Bangladesh\u2019s Ansar auxiliary police<\/strong> inside Nayapura refugee camp, killed Constable Mohamad Ali Hossain<\/strong>, and made off with 11 assault rifles and ammunition. The man who carried out the attack, Nurul Avsar<\/strong>, was involved in methamphetamine smuggling at Shah Porir Dwip<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2013<\/strong>, Delhi Police interrogation of alleged RSO operative Khalid Mehmood<\/strong>, from the village of Yethwenkyawyng, revealed evidence that many Rohingya volunteers were trained in Pakistan<\/strong> to make ammonium nitrate\u2013based explosives<\/strong> at Nakhpura.<\/p>\n

Violence and Atrocities<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Recently, a mass grave<\/strong> was discovered containing the bodies of 28 Hindus, including women and children<\/strong>, in violence-affected Rakhine State<\/strong>, killed by Muslim Rohingya militants<\/strong>. It was revealed that about 300 Rohingya Muslims<\/strong> abducted 100 Hindus<\/strong> on August 25th, eliminated 92 of them<\/strong>, and forcibly converted the eight surviving women<\/strong> to Islam.<\/p>\n

Around 30,000 Hindus and Buddhists<\/strong> have been displaced by the violence by Rohingya Muslims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pakistan<\/strong> is, as usual, infamous for promoting such groups (Rohingyas) to destabilize SAARC countries<\/strong>. Disclosures have confirmed India\u2019s worst fears that Pakistan-based terror groups<\/strong> have infiltrated the Rohingya and pose a grave threat to national security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Inputs from security agencies indicate Rohingya involvement in illegal activities<\/strong>, including fund mobilisation through hawala channels<\/strong>, human trafficking<\/strong>, and procurement of fake Indian identity documents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They may not even have known where Jammu exists on the map of India<\/strong> before migrating \u2014 a big question we must ask ourselves and thoroughly investigate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a sure-shot conspiracy<\/strong> to derail the peaceful coexistence of Jammu. Rohingyas might be weak today, but forces against our country<\/strong> will not take much time to capitalize<\/strong> on the same.<\/p>\n

I am surprised over the suggestions \/ sermons pouring in from a particular section in the Indian society, on Rohingyas which try to portray India & present regime in a bad picture with out even thinking for a while that what catastrophe, it could bring in the coming years.<\/p>\n

Please appreciate, in 2005, The Supreme Court of India had ruled that the Centre had not done its duty to protect Assam from external aggression due to IMDT act, which encouraged rampant illegal migration from Bangladesh. So drawing from our experience in North East, we shall not grant asylum or refugee status to anymore immigrants in India.<\/p>\n

Last but not the least, in case of Jammu, complete registration of Rohingyas shall be set in motion to ascertain exact number of these refugees in each province separately. Most of them donot even have UNHRC cards & who so ever had, is already expired. Govt. of J&K shall advise all District Magistrates in a time bound manner, submission of details regarding all Illegal migrants in each district so that all can be deported safely back to Myanmar, once uncertainity clears up.<\/p>\n

New Delhi should develop a more comprehensive approach, which would enable the safe return of Rohingya from both India and Bangladesh. At the same time, India, Myanmar and Bangladesh join hands to see that radical Islamic groups are prevented from Infiltrating through Bangladesh to Rakhine.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s successful story of diplomacy in the present regime has been that regionally we have been able to isolate an obdurate and obstructive Pakistan through organisations like BIMSTEC. Resolving Rohingyas crisis with Myanmar, Bangaldesh will give boost to our \u201cAct East\u201d policy.
